Contractions lasting 1:17, and 4-6 minutes between
And the folks we asked to look after our 3 year old are incommunicado!

Scheisse!

3. It's close...six blocks...two minutes trip
But what do we do with the kid?

Yowza!

I think they might be at church or something. No answer at home phone, and no answer on both cells for about an hour.

My worry is that this thing will go fast since it's our second.

5. Take him with you if you have to. The hospital has handled these
situations before. And before you know it, your friends will be there to pick him up. :)

Good luck with the delivery.

It's mind over matter - and she'll do fine!

I just worry 'cause sometimes babies come faster than we think, lol. Can't wait to hear the news of your new arrival and tell your wife we are hoping things go well with her, the baby and you! :hi:

I had an epidural with both my boys. The first was a very long labor.
Just awful. So I finally broke down and got the epidural. When my second one came along, I was so terrified of the pain lasting that long again that I'm pretty sure I scared the hell out of the nurses, who told me it looked like it was gonna be quick. Think The Exorcist. I wanted that anesthesiologist in there and I wanted him in there NOW. My son arrived less than an hour later.

So the nurses were right. But they'll never forget me, that's for sure.

57. Boy, that's me. When I was in labor I was like a wild animal.
My poor husband was trying to do whatever he could to help and I just wanted to yell "Just leave me alone and let me do it!!" With my second I labored all night alone (my husband was home with our first, they'd stripped my membranes with the thought of inducing me in the morning, but they didn't need to induce as it turns out) and I just preferred letting those long, painful hours pass by myself.

37. Bouncing baby boy, born 9:20 pm CDT
Edited on Sat Apr-11-09 12:57 AM by alcibiades_mystery
We timed the last contraction at home at 8:53.

Let's say we almost made it all the way to the hospital! But all's well that ends well. Mom and baby (7 pounds 5 ounces) doing A-OK at the hospital. I'm home to sleep.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. It turns out, we needed 'em! We probably should have taken the advice that the thing goes faster than expected, too. :-)

My hat's off to well-trained hospital staff, and to ordinary folks who just do the right thing when needed.

Now when folks ask your newest addition what sign he was born under he can give the same answer I do - Emergency Entrance.

My mom didn't quite make it either...she was holding a straight, and every time she winced the other players figured she had a bad hand.

She won $5.40 and a baby girl.
