...by her mother, for letting me do something, quote "so dangerous and foolish." <sigh> Looks like my mother-in-law and I will have a heart-to-heart shortly, in which I will note that I don't need my wife's permission to ride a bike (although her blessing would be nice), and that after carefully considering my current deplorable state of physical health*, the health benefits of cycling, and the death/injury rates of cycling and driving, it is clear that biking to work is the far safer choice for me.
* overweight, high BP, poor cholesterol #'s, family history of type I diabetes & lethal cancers...yeah I'm a bit of a mess at the ripe age of 34 :scared:.
30 miles round-trip, 1800 calories burned total although my route home had too much traffic. I'll go a different way on Monday. I want to work up to 3x/week, maybe 5x if my speed improves enough. With some good luck, my family members might even approve if I manage to avoid being taken out by cancer or diabetes in the next 10 years. :eyes:
