4. Looking at the second picture, the bear thought it was the olive in his martini
I mean...what stupid ass-wipe would climb into a bear enclosure like that, especially at feeding time!

5. She was reportedly "elated" as she swam towards them.
The poor woman is obviously not well, she's lucky to be alive.

Edited on Sat Apr-11-09 05:41 PM by mix
i bet those polar bears in their artificial habitat and with their stunted hunting skills didn't know what to do with such a juicy morsel! that's probably the only thing that saved her from being quickly ripped apart, and the quick and skillful intervention of the zookeepers...terrifying...bears, being eaten alive, those are primal fears

Incidentally, I've only seen that expression in one other place. Is it common where you are?

25. for real
and more than that, what she did could have gotten those bears killed. Like the asshole who let his kid crawl in with merekats and get bit- which ended in every meerkat being killed so they could be tested for rabies to make sure the kid was okay. Almost anytime a human and wild animal come in close contact the animal ends up dead.
Zoos need to be protected from humans altogether, IMO

10. Aw c'mon, I think the bear just wanted her sweater
I can understand how tempting it would be to go play with polar bears, they are also my favorite ones to visit at the zoo.

Although, I've not yet climbed into their enclosure.

13. I have not found anything about why she did it.
It has to be psychological. I will post if I find some explanation.

These photos give a chilling perspective on the first attack. The bear is clearly in attack mode.

33. Stupid and ignorant does not equal batshit crazy
"All weird stories emanate from either Germany or Florida."

And neither is this an original concept:

The Jimmy Kimmel live writers weren't the first to come up with it either.

You'd have to be firing on three cylinders out of sixteen to jump in a polar bear enclosure.

23. Actually people are very predictable
Scientists can take a small group of mice, say 10 or so, and introduce certain stimuli and predict with a high degree of accuracy how that entire species will react to the same stimuli. Now naturally humans are much more complex, so they have to use larger groups, say 20 or so, to get the same results.

34. Hmm
Am I the only one who does not find the bear half as terrifying as the woman? The bear is easy, I just stay out of his cage and off his iceburg, and we are all good. The woman might be living next door to me, and I wouldn't find out until her baby rattlesnake was injecting my leg with poison or her hand raised pet bobcat was ripping my face off of my skull.
