either that, or summarily executed.

My vote: The Towering Inferno. One of the magical parts of that movie was knowing they actually set shit on fire to make it. When they blew the water tanks, they really blew water tanks--okay, they probably held five gallons apiece, but there were real explosions and real water in that scene.

A Towering Inferno 2009 would be all CGI, and there would be a LOT more sex scenes. It would suck so bad.

1. Bedazzled (and yet I luvz me some Brendan Fraser), The In-Laws.
The originals simply shine next to their pallid, overly commercial remakes.

4. Yeah--the overuse of CGI in the remake totally sucked

5. The Shining
For many reasons, but the main one that comes to mind is the moment when she finds the manuscript he's been working on. All of those pages!

Today, some asshole would use his iPhone app to print out the whole thing in about three minutes. Strictly speaking, such behind-the-scenes stuff shouldn't matter, but it would really diminish something tangible about the scene.

10. I thought the TV version of The Shining was better than the movie.
Don't remember who was in it, but the role of the little boy was explained better, and the black guy had a bigger role. The wife was more attractive too.

15. "His Option ARM was about to adjust upward" is the only acceptable excuse
That shitty movie was a cry for help...it's like Mel stood on a street corner and sang,

Oh give me some money
Just give me some money
You can drop it right here on the ground

And if you don't give me enough
I'll follow you all the way home
And weld your DVD player shut
With the new
Producers movie in it.

19. Now I hear "Young Frankenstein" will be on Broadway as well.
There is one MB movie that would be GREAT on Broadway--The Twelve Chairs, but that would be a risk so it will never happen.

17. The Pink Panther, I was very disappointed that Steve Martin was involved in that.
The only thing worse than trying to remake the Pink Panther would be if someone was foolish enoough to try to remake the Three Stooges!
