The Locater show tears me up.
Makes me into a sobbing mass of girlie estrogen.

Just thought I'd share.

:hi:

1. It scares the hell out of me...
I have a parent who I've gone out of my way to keep from knowing where I am or anything about me since I was 15. (My entire immediate family and step-parent has)

That parent is totally the type to come up with some sob story and have me tracked down. Even if I tell the guy I don't want to be found, I'd be concerned that even any sort of update he might give before he finds me like "I know he lived in DC ten years ago" would endanger me.

2. Yeah, I'm sure only the "happy" endings are shown.
My best friend found her birth mom at age 18. It's been more traumatic since then as it was when she had no clue about her birth parents.

3. I saw one a few weeks ago where the mom wrote a letter to the
daughter saying thanks, but no thanks to any meeting. It was really bad. Lots of tears. The mom had moved on and didn't want anything to do with the daughter.

4. Oh really?
How heartbreaking. That would have made me cry so hard for that daughter.

Based on Mom's letter it sounded like the Dad was abusive. The dad committed suicide after the breakup and the mom took the kids to the dad's family for a visit and never returned to pick them up! She remarried and had more kids. In the letter she stated that the father had "demons" and she couldn't be around the kids because that would make her feel the same pain he inflicted upon her. It was horrible. The daughter felt she didn't want them around because they were an embarrassment to her.
