This is the greatest litter box ever invented....
and all it is is a box with a lid with a hole in it.

Why did it take so long to develop this? Or to put wheels on suitcases?

1. Jade wouldn't figure it out (she's 10-70 in human years)

Cats are very much creatures of habit. Nice contraption to train
a young kitten to, though. URL saved for our next kitty.

2. Sophie and Leon use it just fine, but, yeah, Shamu is scared
to death of the thing. The older cats like it, I think, because when they're pooping the beagle isn't standing there waiting to be served. It's great for that reason...dog proof.

6. Ours figured it out easy
We just let the lid off for a few days, then gradually introduced the lid.

Cats are smart. They can learn new things anytime.

3. $30 for a $10 storage tote with a hole cut in the lid.
hell I can find those all over the side of the interstate for free

I use a big plastic bushel "basket" cost $6 at the feed store. Tall enough for males!

4. That's what we use for our cats
Found it about 2 years ago. Really does cut down on the litter they normally track throughout the house. I was afraid Stupid Mumbles would get confused about how to use it but amazingly she didn't....especially considering how confused she gets with such awesomely complex notions like "using the water bowl properly" and "how to jump off the sofa". Nobel Laureate she is not

5. We have one of those
It doesn't keep the dogs out. They're too tall. However, they can't do it stealth, because you can hear their heads banging around in the litter box.

We solved the problem by putting a cat door in the room with the litter box.

7. The beagle can't get her head in far enough to reach the goodies.
She tried tipping it over, but if I keep it filled with enough litter, it's too heavy for her to budge. Can't use the corn or wheat stuff in it, though, because then she can tip it over. She seems to have given up now. Doesn't go running when she hears the cats scratching in the box anymore.

8. What, are they supposed to stand over that hole?
Like those toilet training ones where they stand on the seat and poop in the toilet?

Otherwise, what, they're supposed to dive headfirst into their litter box?? Ewwww

Either way, I dunno...

9. They hop down into it. No spraying over the sides,
very little litter scattered around, beagles can't get into it. Really. The perfect litter box. If only Shamu would use it.

10. outhouse for a cat
Edited on Sun Apr-12-09 01:33 AM by hibbing
Hi,
Interesting concept. I have a feeling my dear Sophie who spends ten minutes going from
her tall scratching post, to her house, to my lap, to my computer desk to her bed every evening like it is a new adventure, even though she has done it hundreds of times would have an issue.

Wow, a lot of commas!

Thanks for sharing.

Peace
