So I nearly severed my finger yesterday
Trying to cut one of those pesky thick, plastic security thingamabobs off a toy in MG Jr's Easter basket. Okay, maybe not that bad, but there was a lot of blood. A lot. Didn't go to ED for stitches, though, as it was like a really large paper cut. (Damn those scissors were sharp.) So...was it some sort of punishment for quitting the Catholic faith and being a pagan?

1. No punishment.
Just the random evil in the world deciding it was your turn! OUCH Hope you're better today.

2. Perhaps
it was "punishment"--or, rather, a result of my boneheadedness--for not noticing my finger was in the way.

I figure this is just a lesson that it's okay to overload the kid with candy instead of trying to put toys in the Easter basket instead. A chocolate bunny doesn't inflict this kind of damage--not even the foil-covered ones with the sharp edges...

Better today as long as said finger is swathed in Neosporin and swaddled in bandages, thanks. Hey, I can type with it...!

3. Definitely punishment for being unaware of where all your appendages are
;)

Glad it wasn't too severe. I know those butterfly bandages are great for reducing scar-damage and holding everything together. I'm hard-pressed to find the scar on one of my fingers, due to not wearing gloves when I was sharpening a scoop draw-blade (woodworking tool for making scoop cuts in chairs and stools.)

Keep it clean with hydrogen peroxide mainly and it will heal faster :)

5. True dat
I was not paying attention. Or maybe I was hopped up on chocolate. The result was the same, anyway.

I was thinking of getting some butterfly bandages today, but my finger likes being all covered up instead. Maybe both, one on top of the other. I'm not proud.

This is why I'm not usually allowed around sharp things...except my sewing machine needles... :D

4. You would have been better off with chocolate in any case.
Check it periodically for redness and if it seems to not be healing right
go to the ER - don't risk an infection.
Not punishment, but a learnng experience:
Try to avoid doing this in the future.

6. Good advice--thanks
Try...to...avoid... (Hang on--I'm writing it down. :) )

And ain't it always the way--we're leaving for Florida tomorrow. I always seem to suffer some kind of physical injury just before going on vacation. Year and a half ago, pre-Florida, it was a chipped tooth. Last summer, before a trip to California, I grabbed the french-fry slicer in an unwise way. I need to be tied down and sedated for three days prior to any planned trip, apparently.

Please enjoy your vacation.

"Whoopsie!" and all that.

I will indeed try to enjoy my vacation even though it's in Orlando, kiddie spring break hell. Thanks! :hi:

12. Your negligence made the baby Jesus vengeful?

I strongly suspect that when we are "out of our routine" for any reason, we're more prone to accidents. That and stress--even the good kind.

13. Now that you mention it, the day before my vacation in '03,
I had 2 heart attacks, had to get a quad bypass.
I forgot.
Hide somewhere soft till you leave for Florida - hard to cut yourself on the ocean....

14. OMG! I will shut up about my finger now!
:scared:

I put myself in harm's way by driving to the library and the drugstore this afternoon, but I survived. I also refused to cook dinner (no sharp utensils for me), so we got takeout. As long as I don't slip in the shower tomorrow morning, I'm good. :)

17. Aw, that's kind of you. Me, my family, AND my finger--you got it!
I'll do you one better--I'll likely post FROM Florida. I can't leave my laptop at home! I'm so addicted to the intertubes; I might as well have my 'puter surgically attached. Oh wait...that'd involve knives...never mind. ;)

18. It's hot here--this must be Florida
Now if we could only get out of the airport! Flights were uneventful--no unpleasant surprises--which was nice. It's now 9:09 (soon to be 1 after 9:09, thank you Mr. Lennon and Mr. McCartney) and we're waiting for Mr. MG to make his way through the line at Budget Rent-a-Car. He suspects this could take an hour or more. Oh dear--and with a drooping 5 YO too...Anyway, what matters is we're here in one piece and we shall see a bed eventually...! :hi:

15. Get 'Quick Slit'.
Yellow tool about 6" long.
Made to get into blister packs.
Works 'pretty well'.
