One year ago, Democratic Underground.Com was changed forever. A man came into the life of the lounge. A man so talented and wise. Women wanted him. Men wanted to be him. With a single cry, he aroused our souls (those of us who are not purebred dogs, that is). And what did it sound like?
It sounded much like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPeHk4WMWpYWhen I step in the place throw your hands in the sky
AHH, Come on fuckin guy
These girls can't have me and it makes them fuckin' cry
AHH, Come on fuckin guy
On my way to court in a suit and a tie
AHH, Come on fuckin guy
My brother's in the can and won't get out 'til next July
AHH, Come on fuckin guy
If you're not choked up with emotion or phlegm now, then, well, you're just not human.
Chuggo has given us so much. It's about time we give something back to Chuggo.
As it stands today, Monday, April 13, this 2009th year of our Lord, Chuggo's magnum opus, "AHHH! C'mon (Fuckin' Guy)" has 321,617 views on Youtube.com, Youtube.com being the sole measure of cultural relevance in today's world (ask Rick Astley if you don't believe me.)
That is good. It is good indeed.
But it still is not good enough.
I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of raising the amount of hits on Chuggo's "Ahh! C'mon (Fuckin' Guy)" to that of 1,000,000 and beyond. No single viral internet project in this period will be more impressive to mankind, or more important for the long-range exploration of shitty Canadian rap music; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish. We propose additional funds for other ways to publicize this bald man who likes mayonnaise--explorations which are particularly important for one purpose which this nation will never overlook: the survival of the man who first hits this important milestone of internet infamy. But in a very real sense, it will not be one man getting 1,000,000 hits--if we make this judgment affirmatively, it will be an entire nation. For all of us must work to put him there.
But why us? Why now? I shall tell you of the dangers at hand.
Recently, I was made aware of a certain man, a one Mark Gormley.
Where as Chuggo represents light, Mark Gormley represents darkness. He represents the evil that lies within the human heart. Remember when you were in preschool and that bully stole your bike? That was Mark Gormley. Remember when you were in the merge lane on the expressway and that guy wouldn't let you in? That was Mark Gormley. Remember when you applied for that job you really wanted, and it was between you and that one other person, and that other person got it? Yes, that was Mark Gormley.
Here's the fact. Mark Gormley hates you, and he wants nothing more than to see you wallow in misery. He cares nothing for you, and he never will. When you are down, Mark Gormley is up.
Here's another fact. As it stands right now, Mark Gormley's song "Without You" currently has 574,345 hits on Youtube.com. That's....hold on a second....245,728 than our beloved Chuggo. While Chuggo has done everything for us, we have sit by idly and let Mark Gormley surpass him toward the goal of 1,000,000 hits. Remember, people, an apathetic person is a pathetic person.
We must help Chuggo defeat Mark Gormley. Help Chuggo reach the 1,000,000 mark before Mark Gormley ever does. DU made an effort to endorse bad Canadian music last year, and we should stick by that effort. We love our Chuggo. Now let us make something of that love.
So a command to all before me. Ask not what Chuggo can do for DU, but what DU can do for Chuggo.
And one more thing.....
WELCOME TO CHUGGO WEEK
