2. They were one of those bands with a perfect mix
One foot in the past, one in the future. They shaped the soundscape of bands to come and also (re)introduced us to a sound forgotten. I can't wait for them to announce US tour dates.

3. Yep.
Their sound introduced me to an entire other style of music at a key time in my life. I was only a freshman in high school and it shaped my musical tastes, which could have gone horribly awry if I hadn't encountered ska.

8. That's great news!
I remember seeing back in 1980 on SNL...

I also remember a friend of mine telling me that they were the second coming of the Beatles...

9. Yes! They were my soundtrack in grammar/middle school.
My older sister was a punk rocker, and I was exposed to lots of great music when I was a kid.

11. THIS TOWN...is coming like a GHOST TOWN...
...words cannot express how much that song burrowed its way into my brain.

I had the 12" single:

12. If you can find this
And that's a big 'if'. But if you can find this comp, it's 4 discs of every a side and b side from the 2 tone record label. It took me nearly 10 years of searching. Finally one popped up on Ebay and I forked over 100 bucks for it, or so. Well worth it at the time, since the Rico tracks were WAY out of print and I desperately wanted The Bodysnatchers cover of Desmond Dekkers '007' on CD.

The Compact 2 Tone Story
Various

UK
EMI/Chrysalis
CHR TT 5013
CD

This 4 CD box set collects the A-side and B-side of every single released on the label. Both sides of the Dutch Concrete Jungle single plus both tracks from the free single which accompanied initial copies of More Specials are also included. The Bodysnatchers live version of 007 is the only unreleased track in the set, however it did previously appear in the film Dance Craze but failed to make it on to the films soundtrack album.

Jerry Dammers was less than impressed with its release and had this to say about it: "It's real train spotters stuff with every B-side from every free single and I wasn't even consulted about it. In some ways that (The Compact 2 Tone Story) is the worst." (Uncut Magazine interview 1998).

Each of the CDs comes in its own mini 2 Tone sleeve and an A5 version of George Marshalls book The Two Tone Story is also included.
