Oh look, the Duggars are reproducing again
The kids are starting to have kids:

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Josh and Anna Duggar are following in the family tradition. Josh, the eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's 18 kids, announced Monday that he and new bride Anna were about to start their own brood. The couple, who's been married since September, said Anna Duggar is due Oct. 18.

9. They're not newsworthy
They're a freak show. That's why they're in the lounge instead of LBN.

12. I've done some reading about the "Quiverfull" movement the Duggars belong to
and it's quite startling. This is an except from a book from two of the followers...

"When at the height of the Reagan Revolution the conservative faction in Washington was enforced with squads of new conservative congressmen, legislators often found themselves handcuffed by lack of like-minded staff. There simply weren't enough conservatives trained to serve in Washington in the lower and middle capacities"

They also go on to state that they hope "the offspring of Quiverfull families might enter national and local politics to bring conservative majorities, publicly-funded education to bring the teaching of creationism, and business to adjure companies to adhere to what adherents see as Christian sensibilities."

The term come from the Psalm 127 reading: "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate."

I don't know about anyone else but that sounds like someone's trying to create an Army for God.

THAT is truly frightening....

13. Don't want....
:scared:

But then again- a college education is pretty much a given amongst legislative staff, no? These "quiverfulls" tend to homeschool their kids (and tell them that everything is due to God, or the Devil), which won't go very far in getting them a college diploma.

14. I'd like to think that's a requirement...
Not to get all serious in the Lounge or anything but that's why I was so frightened by Palin. All she did was hire her friends. The conservatives have a track record of hiring friends and lackeys (heck of a Brownie!) and so it seems like it could be possible to sneak a few under the radar as long as they support their views...

16. Yeah, very possible...
but they'd likely be so inept that it wouldn't matter. How effective of a legislative staffer could you possibly be if you spent all of your time praying and making babies? Not to mention- blaming everything that went wrong on the Devil?

:hi:

it would most likely be a place like Liberty U. or Bob Jones.

17. It would almost have to be....
There was a kid down the street from me who went to school- start to finish- at a fundie-christian institute (I went there for 3 horrible, painful years, myself). He ended up as the valedictorian of his class (and drank the fundie Kool-Aid), and we both started university together.

He Failed out. Fundie-doctrine does not encourage any kind of critical thinking or reasoning.
