Am I getting old?
I remember I used to be able to put away a case of beer a night. Now lately when I go to the bar I can only handle 3 beers or I'll start puking. I feel old and weak. I'm gonna be 30 in a few weeks! Is that old?!

1. Well...
Happens at any age. I am often glad I saved my liver for my 40's! :hi:

2. Age is relative.
If you go visit a nursing home, you're young.

If you go to a dance club, you're old.

4. If you call a dance club a disco does that make you old?

3. Seems to me

that going from 24 beers a night to getting sick on 3 indicates something other than turning 30. Could be you're just not into it for some reason like you used to be, which would be a good thing. Why lament not being able to down a case of beer a night? Drinking 24 beers a night, or any night, is not a good thing no matter what your perspective. Drunks are the most boring people in the world.

If you're feeling old and weak at 30 there's something wrong mentally or physically. You're in your prime for heaven's sake.

5. Old? No. Sane? Yes.
Why the hell would you be putting away a case of beer a night? That's not healthy for anyone.

9. i used to do that in college
Then I quit and only drank every few weeks or so and very little. So its been about 8 years since I used to pound beers like that. I just noticed that I can hardly stomach it now.

10. I've noticed that too. Must be metabolism. I mean, I never drank a case...
Drink a whole case--that's kinda fucked up. But yes, three beers is about what I can do to soften myself up at the end of a work day--often half of the 3rd is poured out the next morning.

Yet in my 20s there were plenty of times I'd drink the equivalent of a pitcher with a few friends and then (don't scold) drive home or (worse yet) drive around and get into all sorts of goofy antics. No way I could do that now.

I have to wonder if, when the body starts slowing down we also start to metabolize alcohol slower along with burning calories much much slower. These days I care more about the flavor of the beer, too--I shudder at the thought of all the Erlanger or Schlitz I drank at 17 or 19 because it was available. Anything more commercial than Shiner Bock I can't even swallow now.

11. Thats exactly what I mean.
I mean it was college when me and my friends used to pound beers like that but I never puked afterwards or even had a headache the next day. But yesterday I went to the bar with some friends and I only had 3 drafts. On the ride home my friend had to pull over so I could puke everywhere. Its kind of sad to be puking on 3 beers lol.
