Taking a trip over to Fundies Say the Darndest Things for some comedy

These folks are so full of Christian love and compassion:

god was sacrificing this child as a way to show others the light. much as he did his own child. what a beautiful gift he has given us.

Scientific insights:

You got it backwards.

Creationism is based upon science, reason and tons of evidence.

Evolution is based on the blind acceptance of superstitions and fairy tales.

Social commentary:

Yes, that is a great company. I bought one of their large print version (old eyes... what can I say?).

The only thing I don't like about them is they sell foreign language versions of the KJB. I don't think that's right. We know the only true translation is the 1600's version in English.

It's too risky for anybody to translate that into other languages. Mistakes can creep in... and that can lead to heresy. True Christians should only read English.

1. "True Christians should only read English"???

And on top of THAT, the KJB is not only a translation of a translation, but it is the "KING JAMES" version because HE wanted it to say things HIS way!

2. Despite the fact that the original Bible was written in Greek--
--and even that was a translation from other sources.

Apparently, there are no true Christians in France, Germany, Russia or any of the other non-Anglo majority Christian nations.

4. And Jeezus was a Jah-oo!
That claim that man (but I guess not woman) was greated in god's image is apparently backwards.

5. Oh yeah, blonde, blue eyes - he would have fit RIGHT in there.
Yep, best way to disguise yourself in the Middle East is to be blonde with blue eyes - works every time.

6. All I can say is . . . well, truthfully I'm not sure what to say
I went and read some of the comments posted and came away depressed as all get out. I almost cried at the one from the person whose son came out to him/her and they told the son that if he couldn't change his orientation that he should be celibate. There was a little note at the bottom saying that eventually the son committed suicide. Or another gem, the person who was whining about being kicked out of school for harassing a Wiccan student and couldn't understand what he had done wrong - he had only witnessed to her, stuck a Chick tract in her locker, told her she was going to hell and tried to get her to convert, but it was he who was being harassed by the girl because she wouldn't become a Christian.

I did get a kick out of the person who decided there was no gravity and it was sin holding people and things down to the earth. What I want to know is how they rectified that belief with the fact that they were Christian and therefore presumably forgiven, but still remained attached to the ground and didn't float off.

When I have more strength I'll go back again, but I think it will be a while.
