I've joined Haruka as someone who had to explain "teabagging"
to one's father and/or father-in-law. And I didn't do it by texting. x(

I blame Glenn Beck.

3. Well, you begin by blushing profusely.
Then you just describe the act. And then you say, "And please don't ask me any other sexual questions. Ever."
Then he says "How do you know this?". Then I say, "I read the internet". Then he says "Geez. If I were you, I would've just told me where to find it on the internet. I could never have talked to MY dad about such things."

2. I'm always amazed when joe-six-pack - or any citizen - gets upset when....
...millionaires have to pay more taxes. What a stupid fucking country.

4. That's not the teabagging I was explaining.
My dad is a progressive Dem. He's on the right side on social and political issues. He just isn't up on the latest sexual terminology. Which is okay with me.

6. My republican mother is curious about this "tea party".
I'm not going to tell her what teabagging means.

To her credit, she thinks any sitting President deserves a chance. And it not anti-Obama.

She doesn't ever vote.

7. Err, I have the feeling I'm gonna have to 'splain it to my husband
He's just not the "type" to get into such behavior. He's very exciting, but not, ummm, not wanting to go for the full bag...

Totally knew what it means. Me and him were cracking up about it this weekend. Neither one of us can believe the repugs are *that* clueless. They just can't be, can they?

12.  I remember when my grandmother asked me what my gay cousin
and his partner did together. I tried to get out of it by just saying "Use your imagination". She assured me that she had tried that and got nuthin'. Oy! When I explained some of the options, she said "I didn't really need to know that."

I just remind myself that things have changed mightily in the last generation or two. My mom's mom didn't prepare her to get her first period, and she thought she was bleeding to death. Showing me Walt Disney's "It's Wonderful Being a Girl" was a great leap forward.
