I have been watching On The Beach, what a sad movie.
I don't think it would be same in color.

It was made in 1964 or so I guess it was a anti-war type movie.

Don't watch this movie if you are already sad.

1. That movie should only be watched about once a decade.
Just often enough in life that we should all remember why nuclear weapons should be outlawed.

When I watched it a couple of months ago for the first time since the 70s, I didn't expect to cry. Damn, it was depressing.

2. I didn't know there was a film adaption but I just read the novel last month and I agree.
This is not a "feel good" story.

3. The first time I saw I was to young to really understand.
Depressing is right.

I don't know how long it would take me to take the pill.

Would you like to be the first to go and the last to go.

I think I would like one last walk around.

The people in the movie still look good at the end.

7. I'd probably be pretty early to take the pill - at my age and physical ability

I would be more a liability to the people who wanted or needed to live longer than an aid. Besides, I have some pretty depressed days now and would probably be suicidally depressed if there was a nuclear war.

Edited to add:
I read Pat Frank's "Alas Babylon" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alas,_Babylon) at too young an age to really understand but it hit me hard since it was set not too far from my hometown. That book did deal with some of the effects of radiation poisoning though more with the depletion of the accouterments of modern civilization. The TV series "Jerico" was a lot like "Alas Babylon" with more guns and more drama - essentially updated from 1959 to now.
