Man bites snake...
A Kenyan man bit a python who wrapped him in its coils and dragged him up a tree during a fierce three-hour struggle, police have told the BBC.

snip

Mr Nyaumbe told the Daily Nation newspaper how he resorted to desperate measures after the python, which had apparently been hunting livestock, encircled his upper body in its coils.

"I stepped on a spongy thing on the ground and suddenly my leg was entangled with the body of a huge python," he said.

"I had to bite it."

1. Three hours - this is one lucky guy (also one unlucky guy, of course)
Sounds like the police superintendent expects the snake to come back for vengeance...

7. Some of us already do.

For reference, that's a 13-foot python and a 6-foot gator in the Florida Everglades. About three hours drive southeast of where I am.

The alligators generally fare better...

...but it still puts a damper on my plans to spend a day or two vacationing at Everglades National Park sometime. I know how alligators behave, I know what not to do around them, I know how to recognize them when they're concealed/submerged, and I know how to avoid them at night (shine a flashlight around -- their eyes glow a really distinctive red).

I know jack shit about pythons.

3. Did it taste of chicken?
Sorry, I could not resist. That's smart thinking on the dude's part though. Salmonella treatments wouldn't be a bad idea now though.

6. I've heard African Rock Pythons are fairly aggressive.
Herpetologists -- could that have been the species?

8. I loved the last quote in the article
"We are still seriously looking for the snake," said Supt Katam. "We want to arrest the snake because any one of us could fall a victim."

9. I was afraid, for a moment, that this was some reference to

an unfortunate teabagging mishap.
