She phoned me up after supper and asked me if I was going. I said it would be really weird if I did, seeing as I am 1) a progressive Democrat, and 2) a government employee. The people at those rallies tend to feed me to their young'uns for breakfast, I explained to her, so no, I would not be attending.

I mean, my mother has always been a moderate Republican (think Harold Stassen) and fiscally conservative, but I didn't think she'd go hang with those wackos.

I hope like hell she doesn't get recruited by some of those flat-earther John Birch libertarian teabaggers.
