2. If you go back 10 or 15 years ago

he was great. He helped people understand the game and what to look for. You were a more knowledgeable fan, just from watching his games. Then sadly over the years he has become a parody of himself.

3. Even tired and worn out, he's better than most of the others.

He actually pays attention to the game, understands what's happening on the field, and educates the listener instead of babbling on about irrelevant stuff.

But he's clearly declining in quality. It's time. I hope he lives a long, happy retirement.

I think DS1 will be sad because Madden CERTAINLY has given him great fodder for his Lounge antics. Can we get a DS1 John Madden retrospective please? :D
Interesting that he announces his retirement after it looks like Brett Favre is truly retired...hmmm..:think:
