Bound to happen: I took my first spill as a bike rider this morning.
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 08:33 AM by Symarip
I was only going 10 miles per hour, thank Raptor Jesus, so I'm alright. Just a little bruised. Verizon has been digging up lines in my neighborhood and I hit a patch of clay they left in the street. Thanks, Verizon. My back tire slid out and hitting the brakes(!) only caused me to topple.

I've been riding for 15 years. You never think it's going to happen to you, then it does. I'm fine but in a little bit of shock. My bike could be better. Looks like the scooter shop is going to get another 500 dollars out of me.

3. hopefully you were wearing a helmet.
I have taken two spills in my life, the first broke my wrist, and the second I dislocated my shoulder.

4. Had a helmet on
Thick jacket too. My knees and hands are bruised and scraped. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow.

7. I am sure you will be.
I am doing the nyc 5 boro ride in a couple of weeks and dread the thought of falling with about 30k riders coming at me (although with me there may only be about 50 or so behind me)

6. I've lost whole days of memory
From drinking. Some people call it 'blacking out' but I like to think of it as 'time traveling'.
