Now I'm watching Hunt for Red October. Anyone disturbs me, I'm doing a Crazy Ivan on your ass
and will blow you to hell with a salvo of nuclear missiles.

No posting for the next two hours.

Series.

To take a cue from Francis, "Anyone of you people post a note, I'll kill you."

And to take a cue from Unforgiven, "I'll kill you, I'll kill your family, I'll kill all your friends, and I'll burn your house down."

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............

Rabrrrrrr does not like to be disturbed.

11. I only inconsistently and randomly carry out my threats, because it's more anxiety producing
than being consistent.

Better than killing people is collectively driving them insane.

9. The rich family that owned the island did not treat the animals very nice.
The animals had enough.

The mean old man of the family is about to get it.

Go creatures.

10. I love that movie -- and the book.
A nice little story: My Dad eventually went blind from macular degeneration. When he still had about 30% vision, we went to see Hunt for Red October. I read him the subtitles at the beginning when they were speaking Russian. When they switched to English I stopped. Dad asked, "What are they saying?" I said, "Dad, they're speaking English now!" He was embarrassed -- he was tuned into my voice, not the movie.

R.I.P. Dad.

12. Is it over yet? Did you not fall in love with Sean Connery's accent?
wasn't the submarine groovy? How much popcorn did you eat? How many times did you get up to take a leak? What did you think of the acting? Tell me......tell me!!

17. Some more quotes from that movie Unforgiven.
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 10:31 PM by RandomThoughts
Ned Logan: Hell, Will. We ain't bad men no more. Shit, we're farmers.
Will Munny: Should be easy killing them, supposing they don't go on down to Texas first.
Ned Logan: How long has it been since you fired a gun at a man, Will? Nine, ten years?
Will Munny: Eleven.
Ned Logan: Easy, huh? Hell, I don't know that it was all that easy even back then. And we was young and full of beans. I mean, if you was mad at 'em, Will, I mean. If they'd done you some wrong, I could see shooting 'em.
Will Munny: We done stuff for money before, Ned.
Ned Logan: Yeah, we thought we did. All right, so what did these fellas do? Cheat at cards? Steal some strays? Spit on a rich fella? What?
Will Munny: No, they cut up a woman.
Ned Logan: What?
Will Munny: Yeah, they cut up her face, cut her eyes out, cut her fingers off, cut her tits, everything but her cunty, I suppose.
Ned Logan: I'll be dogg - Golly, I guess they got it comin'. 'Course, you know, Will, if Claudia was alive you wouldn't be doin' this.

and

Will Munny: Who's the fellow owns this shithole?
(pause)
Will Munny: You, fat man. Speak up.
Dubois: Uh, I... I own this establishment. I bought the place from Greeley for a thousand dollars.
(Will levels the shotgun, and speaks to someone standing behind Dubois)
Will Munny: You better clear outta there.
Man: Yes, sir.
(scampers out of the way)
Little Bill Daggett: Just hold it right there. Hold it...!
(Will shoots Dubois. Screaming, the women scatter upstairs)
Little Bill Daggett: Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man!
Will Munny: Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend.

And the best line from Clint.

The Schofield Kid: It don't seem real... how he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever... how he's dead. And the other one too. All on account of pulling a trigger.
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

However, regardless of all those things, I believe in forgiveness and love. I really think that is the better way. Better to be kind and show love. Compassion defeats evil, not joining it by using its means.

But that just leads me back to this quote.

Will Munny: I ain't like that no more. I ain't the same, Ned. Claudia, she straightened me up, cleared me of drinkin' whiskey and all. Ned, you remember that drover I shot through the mouth and his teeth came out the back of his head? I think about him now and again.

I disagree with just about everything in that movie, yet I understand it, even if it is sad. Holding that in ones mind I think is part of the paradox.

19. I reject your premise, sir!
A Crazy Ivan, as you so insensitively repeat, is not a preface to the use of nuclear weapons. It's simply a way to detect a socialist submarine run by a socialist Commie Commander in Chief.

In fact, the only ping you will hear is the ping of my Mark 50 torpedo getting a final ranging on your sorry ass sub before it blows you to hell. Say hello to salt water, beatch!

20. I love the variants of accents on the Russian characters.
You have the Scot, a posh Brit, and an Australian guy. What other film has all that?
