My cat has become obsessed with a toy.
Edited on Sun Apr-19-09 09:19 AM by The Velveteen Ocelot
He drags this around with him:

And he'll take it to me, yelling "YEEEEE!! YEEEEE!!" through his teeth, demanding that I play with him. He takes it everywhere and soaks it in drool. This is actually the second one of these he's had, since he mangled the first one so badly that nothing was left of it but a few scraps that I tied together.

Anybody else with cats who have toy obsessions?

2. A "banana" that was once filled with catnip....
Now it's flat as a pancake. It must still have catnip scent on it, because she carries it around in her mouth. It's filthy, but I don't have the heart to take it away from her.

3. Widtet has one particular mouse he's had for 7 years
carries it around the house and talks to it. Funniest thing. :)

I had a cat years ago that would bring acorns in from outside and play with them. When he was done, he'd drop them in the shoes by the back door. Had to check for acorns before I could put shoes on.

4. Ours has an obsession with a similar toy, but only when he thinks his Momma leaves.
He's our grandkitty and his Momma, my daughter just left. I'm sitting here with him Merroowuuuuing in that deep wailing call while he's carrying his toy through the house. It's a very similar toy, has a stretchy band(he destroyed the original mouse on it) on the end of a string attached to a pole. He looks so funny carrying it and wailing away.

He did it earlier when she was in the shower. He does it daily when she leaves for work. He'll carry it up the (wooden) stairs and back down. Merrrowuuuu, clunk clunk clunk. Occasionally he'll bring it to our feet and want to play, but mostly it has something to do with her leaving.

His obsession began after he was really sick several months ago.

6. Sunday Girl does that with her stuffed animals when anyone leaves the room.
It doesn't matter which room it is, if she finds herself alone in the room, she'll start doing that. She's just so used to have someone with her, that being alone really freaks her out.

5. try a ping pong ball...
tons of fun, and will elicit much laughter as you watch their antics... (never mind that the sound of the ping pong ball bouncing around will eventually drive you insane...!)

all i have to say now is "PONG", and they go crazy.

7. They especially love ping pong balls, tennis balls, and those SuperBounce balls
at 3:00 am. I don't know what causes the overwhelming desire for them to play with those types of toys at 3:00 am, but for some reason, most of them do.

11. I had that cat toy a decade ago. Don't think my cat carried it around with her in her mouth.
I don't play with my cats that often to tell you the truth.
