Does anyone actually do shots for casual drinking?
Just sitting around doing shots, but not planning to get hammered?

1. Sometimes, although I wouldn't call it "shots"
Doing "shots" implies you're throwing one back for the sake of expediency. I don't do that anymore, but there are some spirits I like to sip by themselves like vodka, cognac, bourbon, and scotch.

2. I always do shots
so I can count them, and NEVER go over my limit.

I hate when really buzzed creeps up on me.

plus I love the taste of Irish whiskey

3. Shots -- only at a bar, and only very occasionally.

Not much of a shot guy. But here are two worth a try: chocolate cake and Washington apple.

4. I love chocolate cake.
Sigh! I wish I had one right now. I wish I had a whole line of them in fact.

10. Damn tasty.
I think the next time that I order up that goodness is when my friend Aly comes around. Great shot to share with someone special.

6. The line between "casual drinking" and "getting hammered" is a rather fuzzy one for me.
Depends on what I'm in the mood for, how my stomach feels after the first drink or two, etc. But shots are fine with me, especially if it's whiskey.

12. If someone's buying the band shots, sure
but I opt for a shot of bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey and sip it like I usually do with good whiskey. If I'm handed a shot of say, Doctors, I can down that in one gulp without feeling guilty. I can down whiskey in one gulp too, but I think that's a waste...I was handed a shot of 18-year-old Sazerac rye (around $50 a bottle!) and expected to down it in one gulp...hell no! I'm savoring that baby! The palate of that was unlike any other whiskey I had ever tasted...I'd love to curl up with a snifter of that and get to know it better. But I can't justify hooch that expensive...my cutoff's about $25 a fifth, usually.
