FYI: A most excellent film noir web site.
I just discovered it and thought I'd pass it along.

They Shot Dark Pictures, Didn't They?

1. I'll have to check it out.
Saw several noir films years ago by a cinematographer named John Alton; amazing what one can do with just white, black and gray for your color palette.

2. Thank you for the link
I added the site to my favorites. Maybe because I'm a classic film buff, I love film noir (have over a hundred on vhs!) not to mention one of its main influences, German Expressionism, not to mention Italian Neo-Realism...Last night I watched "Journey Into Fear" for the first time.

3. I just re-watched "Double Indemnity" for the hundredth time.
To my mind, that is THE definitive noir film. Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, and Edward G. Robinson kicked black and white ASS in it.

:headbang:

4. That's a total classic-number one in my book too
Starring Fred MacMurray, the guy whose wholesome looks Captain Marvel was based on, nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, as a totally amoral insurance salesman seduced by Barbara (look at me) Stanwyck, perhaps my favorite classic era female actor, I mean there's no reason their plot wouldn't succeeed...except for gruff growling Edward G, one of the greatest actors ever...

Plus it was directed by Billy Wilder, who along with others (notably Fritz Lang) fled Germany with the rise of Hitler, and made so many great movies I can't think of them all!
