2. Before the race
probably warming up. Boston is notorious for there pre-staging. Everyone gets on school buses and is carted out to the start area (several miles) and then they sit and wait and then get warmed up and ready for the race.

3. i love the sixth photo down
that is a father and son team from western massachusetts (the hoyts) he pushes his handicapped son through many marathons (usually in good time). i think this is their final boston marathon.
