Is there a way to "find/replace" through Windows Explorer?
I am trying to rename a bunch of files that I downloaded and misnamed - about two hundred pictures are labeled "Florence" instead of "Venice" and it would be really, really easy if I could just select all the right pics and do a find/replace on the key words... however, I do not see that option? Am I missing something?

Thanks

2. Back in the old days of DOS that was easy.
Damned if I could tell you how to do it now.

3. wouldn't REN and a wildcard work?
ren florence*.jpg venice*.jpg (assuming the photos are numbered sequentially following the city name)

6. You mean by going through DOS?
It's been so long since I've been out to a DOS prompt that I'd be afraid to screw something up...

7. not exactly DOS, but the windows command prompt
start --> run --> cmd

navigate to the directory containing the files and try to ren command with the splat (*) wildcard replacing the numbers.

9. I sense a typo in the force.
As if hundreds of files all cried out at once, "what in the fuck program opens a .jpgvenice file?!?"

5. If you have the ACDSee graphics viewer, it allows you to rename files en masse
Though the REN suggestion made above should do the trick, too.

10. Here's a cool freeware file rename program:

http://www.1-4a.com/rename/

It has many more options than DOS or Windows and it has preview & undo.
