Poll question: SHIT. I spilled water on the latptop. What are its chances?
The laptop was in its bag, leaning up against the end table. I knocked off my water glass and it fell right into the laptop bag. So the laptop got showered from the edge down. It didn't get a lot of water, but I'm afraid it got enough.

I dish-toweled it off and put it somewhere to dry out.

What are its chances of working?

2. Mine sat out in the rain for a bit the other day! Working like a champ!
I blowed mine dry with the hair dryer. I did it on low speed and cool temp! Good luck.

4. strawberry milk
in the keyboard of my wifes. My son just poured it in there. Took it completely apart and had to clean with alcohol and q-tips to get the sugary milk off. Dried it with compressed air and it works fine.

7. Gack! How old was your son?
I'm not sure I'd've had the energy or patience to fix it like you did.

5. Whatever you do, don't turn it on!!!
At least not until you are absolutely 100% POSITIVE that it's completely dry inside. So long as it stays off, it should dry and be okay. If you turn it on while it's still wet inside, you could ruin it permanently.

8. Exactly. You turn it on when there's water touching stuff and zap. Short circuit.
This laptop is no more. It has ceased to be. It is an ex-laptop.

11. Silicone Keyboard Protector, Notebook keyboard protector!
I bought one when I bought my laptop and it saved it a couple of time from coffee going inside the key board, they're expensive though, around twenty bucks!

12. I managed to save a laptop after that happened--for 150 bucks.
But that was back in '01. God knows what you'd pay now.

13. YOU are SO FUCKED!
You're fucked like a slender long-haired guy in a prison shower. You are SO fucked, they'll want to take a DNA sample to see how many USB thumb drives you spawned. I'm not sure you can be more fucked without personally excreting the silicon and injecting it into the correct locations of your fucked up computer!

Or you could just let it dry out and try it in the morning. I'm cool either way.

16. Just put it in the drier, "gentle fabric" cycle.
Or, if you want to be environmental, hang it out to dry on the clothesline.
