Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 08:43 PM by tammywammy
While I live in the DFW area, I'll admit I'm a Dodgers fan. All it took was dating a Dodgers fan years ago to suck me in.

Any other Dodgers fans or who's your team?

3. Yea!
I'm actually watching the current game vs the Astros right now. I'm too cheap to buy the MLB sports package ($200!!!) but a friend of mine subscribes to mlb.tv and gives me his login. What a sweetie. :loveya:

I'm very happy to know the Dodgers are playing the Rangers in June. I'll be going. :)

15. I'm listening on Gameday Audio
Foul ball goes into the radio booth, breaks a light. :D

I've got the bandwidth now for mlb.tv (I just moved to civilization) and I'll prolly get it after the first of the month.

This is my 45th season as a Dodgers fan. Ah, the stories I could tell...

Zomby Woof and his s.o., Nina, are also righteous Dodgers fans.

32. It'll prolly jerk a bit for me, too
When I set up my computer here and began enjoying the benefits of a 1.5 mb connection, I checked the sample broadcast at mlb.com, and it wasn't perfectly smooth. Still, since this is only the fourth season that I could even listen to 'em (I live in Giants country; no Dodgers radio up here), any teevee at all is just extra meat in the chili. :)

1974 story: The day we beat Pittsburgh for the pennant, I was at the mall with my gf, who was from LA (and who was once hit on at a game by Pirates pitcher Bruce Kison). She was at one end of the mall and I was at the other, watching the game at Harry Wardwell's Magnavox. After the last out, I found her, yelled "THE DODGERS WON THE PENNANT!" and carried her piggyback down the mall. :D

37. 45 seasons!
Oh the classics you have seen! You started near the end of the Koufax era... *swoon*

I am at about 35 seasons, give or take, remembering watching a Dodgers game with my dad on teevee in roughly 1973 or thereabouts - I was but a wee lad. He is the one who indoctrinated me, lol.

Last year I rescued my 1981 Dodgers pennant from storage and framed it, hanging it above the den door just like it hung over my bedroom door from junior high through college.

"Think Blue"? We bleed it! :D

52. It was Koufax who grabbed me
After all these years I still dunno why. Maybe even then I sensed he was a classy guy. I do know he was damned near unhittable. All I know is he was my sports idol. Hell, he still is.

I also liked Drysdale and Maury Wills, but a boy's first hero is always his biggest.

104. Kirby Puckett? Ken Griffey Jr.?
I never saw Koufax play live, but I would ask how Kirby Puckett or Ken Griffey Jr. aren't #1 and #2 on everyone's all time favorites list.

Johan Santana, in his prime, was as good if not better than Koufax IMO.

How many times did Santana have an ERA under 2? How many games did he complete? How many shutouts did he throw? How many times did he start on two days' rest?

107. Different era...
How many games do any pitchers finish anymore? How many juicers did Koufax have to pitch to?

I think Santana gave up something like six earned runs in all of the second half of the 2004 season. He won the major league pitching triple crown in 2006. Two unanimous Cy Youngs and one that he missed out on because the rest of his team was mediocre. His ERA hasn't been higher than 3.33 since he became a full-time starter, during a time when the league average was significantly above 4.00. He's a gold glove winner and only this year has he had any real injury concerns.

The only pitcher who I would say has been as good in their prime was Pedro Martinez.

109. He gave up 14 after the All-Star break
in 15 starts. That's one amazing half-season.

From 1963-66, Koufax threw 31 shutouts.

Don't use "juicers" as your trump card. Every era has had home-run hitters.

9. Depends on which Rockies team shows up.
Will it be the team that lost 14-2 to the Dodgers a couple of days ago, or will it be the team from the first week of the season the last time tonight's starter (Franklin Morales) pitched when the Rockies beat the D-Backs 9-2?

Honestly... I have no friggin' clue but... GO ROCKIES!

31. Dodgers fan here
Have been since I was a young kid, back in the early 70's. Never actually lived in L.A. until 2005, so now I get to go to Dodger Stadium and listen to or watch games on radio/TV with Vin Scully at the microphone.

Outside of spring training, the All-Star Game, or World Series, I didn't acknowledge the AL until 1988, when I moved to Seattle and adopted the Mariners - who were back then perpetually under .500. I have stayed loyal to them since leaving Seattle. I figure 2 leagues, 2 teams, 2 times the heartbreak, lol.

It is now the 3rd oldest stadium in baseball - so it has earned its 'shrine' status. :-)

It has stunning views of the surrounding mountains - you cannot believe you are right next to the 2nd largest city in the US. For an urban park, it has a rural charm. Bring your radio, so you can catch Vin!

87. I KNOW!!
I've seen the Dodgers in SF, but... 350 miles is just far enough to make a day trip out of the question, and when I had the time to make a weekend out of it, I didn't have the $, and vice versa.

Sucks being an out-of-market fan. x(

93. Aren't the Phillies a National League team?
They couldn't really sprint past the Red Sox, an American League team to the Series now could they? They can arrive there in Red Sox absentia, but couldn't really sprint past them. The Rays? Okay, nice sprint boys.
