My Fridge adventure Update
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 01:30 PM by supernova
The Sears repairman just left.

Turns out it was a bad relay that had been recalled so the parts and laber for that were FREE.

So out of a $180 total bill, I spent $56 for a new water filter.

:woohoo:

edit: The Fridge is plugged in and cooling as I type. I'm sure it will take a while to cool down completely.

1. Told you it wasn't freon
Glad they covered it. Even though the relay probably only cost 3 dollars.

2. I didn't say it was definitely freon
I was expressing hope that it wasn't.

I did appreciate the info.

3. I'm just glad the repairman was cool about it
Alot of guys I worked with would make up symptoms. A worried customer full of ideas is an easy kill for these predators. Man, I'm glad I got canned from that job.

5. You have no idea
I was essentially fired for not shaking down the customer. Repairmen basically have to look at the customer as the enemy. I can't do that.

By the way, don't look on ebay for your water filter if you want to feel good about your 50 dollar purchase.

No, I was going to get it at Lowes or from Maytag when I need the next one.

edit: I try never to volunteer extraneous information when the repair man comes. I don't want him suggesting $500 worth of work I don't need.
