It didn't win a Pulitzer prize, but the author is an award winning journalist who has worked for Life and New York magazines. It's an easy read and a delightful coming of age story that explores the close relationship between two brothers and their father and the true story of a cross country flight that gained national media attention back in the mid-60's. It really doesn't matter much if you have a love for aviation or not, this book is still a delightful story. Most well stocked public libraries should have it, and if not they should be able to get it for you. Or better yet order your own copy from Amazon and save it for your kids.
