Can the Unemployment Department be any more frustrating?
I got a letter today saying that my claim was denied. Apparently they processed the claim twice, and one of the technicians entered my SSN incorrectly. I spoke with an adjudication person last week, and she said she would cancel the false claim. Apparently she did not! Now I have to file an appeal requesting that my claim be re-evaluated, and you can't call anybody - they don't take phone calls!.

I have worked in this state for 30 years and this is the first time I've ever had to file for UI. Now they're jacking me around for a mistake one of THEIR employees made?:grr:

Sorry, rant off, I just needed to vent.:)

1. I got denied...then I got a check in the mail
and then I got an acceptance letter. They are so screwed up they don't know what is what.

7. Trust me, they are.
They told us to save all our job search sheets until someone requested them, then they turn around and have you come in to discuss looking for a job (which there are none up here right now) and then told us that we should have been mailing them in. They look terrified in person.

3. I hope you get it straightened out quickly.
I'm getting jacked around a lot by Public Assistance too. Someone makes a mistake and as a result I have to go through repeated appeals and hearings to keep my meager benefits. :(

I hope you can get your situation corrected more easily than what I have been going through.

Better yet, I hope you have a really great job offer so soon that unemployment becomes superfluous. :)

6. Thanks Thom.
I know how bad your situation is. It's disgusting what they've been putting you through.

On the upside, I did get a job offer, and it looks like I'll be starting on May 4th. The bad news is that in my line of work we don't get paid for 30 days in arrears, so the UI check would help.

9. bassman - They take tha absolute bottom of the barrel of all state
workers and send them to unemployment department. I have been there in PA and CA and it's like they are the same people.
I have to say there are some good people there, but you really have to get lucky.

Can't wait to find out what the people are like at Social Security - I'm applying next month, but I plan to do it online.:argh:

Good luck.
