So begins my long wait for an SSI hearing.
I am suffering from chronic, debilitating pelvic pain. 24 year old male, unable to sit, reliant upon my bed and hot baths. Social Security has insisted (on filing and appeal) that I can return to my previous job as a customer service rep. Yeah, right.

My lawyer thinks I have a good shot at the trial, but says it'll be 6 months to 1 year before that happens. We can do nothing but wait at this time. Between getting SSI and the constant pain, I am really frustrated. Sucks to deal with this at my age, though I try to remind myself that there are younger people handling worse problems.

Just needed to vent. x(

1. Sorry to hear it. Good luck, and hope something changes for the better for you soon.

I'd suggest calling the newspapers; 6 months to a year to wait when you can't sit is outrageous. Regardless, again, good luck.

(Edit: good for god:))

2. My thoughts will be with you for a quick resolution on this.
I'm 40 and suffering from a myriad of problems related to everything from my weight to my genetics to my choice of previous jobs. I was so afraid of having to go through a nightmare that my wife almost had to threaten to kick my ass to get me to even apply. Please don't ask me how I got so lucky, but I was approved after less than 4 months.

There is just NO WAY you should have even been turned down based on what you are describing. The pain I have in my shoulder and neck now is such that I can only spend time at the computer in short spurts because otherwise I end up having pain and numbness all over. So if it's hard for you even to sit I can only imagine how hard it must be for you to come here and post.

I hope your lawyer is right, and that you'll have your benefits sooner than you think. Please continue to hang in there!

3. Hi ...
I actually had to give up the desktop PC (which I built and loved!) in favor of a laptop I can use in bed. That's how I post here, and it's also how I stay sane most of the time. :P

The bad thing for me is that my situation is neuromuscular, related to chronic spasm in the pelvic floor. It's not the kind of thing that shows up on a MRI; only a physical therapist with pelvic floor experience can really detect the problem. Social Security has a certain list of problems which, if you have one, you are automatically approved for disability benefits. I don't fall under that list, unfortunately, as I have a fairly unusual condition.

The sort of bright side is that I'm not alone. It's six months to a year because so many other people are in my shoes. My lawyer says that most people who get benefits, if they're going to, will get them in a meeting with the judge.
