My dog stinks.
Every time we go to the woods or the park he finds dead fish and rolls on them. I could keep him on the leash all the time, but he needs a lot of running.

Its been raining all day. He rolled in something this morning, so I took him somewhere else where he could swim the stink off. He did swim, but then he found a huge dead carp in the water. So he stood there in the watery muck to his elbows, munching carp sushi.

Finally I got him away. He actually smells better than this morning, because now its mostly his breath that stinks.

1. My theory is that canines enjoy stench.
Mine once rolled in some fresh bovine urine and acted as if he had been taken to heav'n in the rapture. They sniff each others assholes for ID check, drink out of toilets, lick your face.

2. There noses are much more sensitive than ours.
I told him that he stunk and I sprayed him with 10% listerine. Then I took a shower. When I came out of the bathroom he was curled up on my bed. That's where he goes when hes in trouble.

4. Actually, I'm sure they don't understand why we use perfumes,
etc, although my dog is in love with my wife's shampoo.

I read somewhere that a human's odor receptors total an area the size of a stamp, and a dog's the size of a pocket handkerchief unfolded.
Maybe they are right.....

5. My dog is fascinated with the bathroom
because of all the different smells- soaps, cleaners, toothpaste, etc. When he's in a chewing mood, he pokes around the bathroom hoping I've left a toothbrush where he can reach it.

3. My dogs almost always smell,
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 04:21 PM by TomorrowNeverKnows
especially my smaller dog's breath, it's like a sewer. :puke: My larger dog always has a smelly coat, but not-as-bad breath.

And my smaller dog always seems to have a need to sniff the other dog's waste. Oh well, I guess dogs have some sort of inborn attraction to that kind of stuff.
