Question about organ donors.
What is the policy of organ donation as far as the donor's weight? Right now, I am an organ donor, but I am a little worried that my organs might not be good enough to donate because I am so overweight. I don't want to state my actual weight here, let's just say that I am way over 50 pounds heavier for my height. Should I no longer be an organ donor?

Thank you.

1. In the event of your untimely demise specialists will decide if you're a donor candidate
and which organs are or are not suitable. Even if there were a transplant specialist in the Lounge, they'd have no ability to diagnose you over the internet.

Just sign the card and relax, you won't be here when it all gets sorted out.

2. Thank you. It's already official that I am an organ donor.
It's on my driver's license.

3. I gave an old piano to the Salvation Army. Does that count for anything?
And I've arranged to have my skin rendered into a series of steering wheel covers after my death.

7. LOL!
That's a great analogy. The body as old piano. My skin is dry and flaky, not sure what they could use it for.

5. Are your eyes any good?
Corneas are sometimes the only tissue that can be harvested, but that is a very valuable donation. Realistically I have not heard that weight is a factor.

6. Thank you. I have excellent vision.
That would be great to think they could use my corneas. I haven't developed diabetes yet, but there is a chance I could get it because of my weight and family history. That's the only thing that might interfere with my eyesight, but that's not happening now, at least.

8. Diabetes is something that would interfere with ones ability to donate organs.
Dear elshiva, please do whatever you can to prevent getting diabetes. Also, as I know you are rather busty, you have the potential for heart disease and that is also a complication associated with diabetes.

in my left elbow, as the sliding surface. My elbow has been replaced/fixed.

Also, my Ulnar nerve had to be repositioned.
