Houston Flooding
This is the view from near my office. The view directly in front of my office requires a helicopter apparently, since the damn thing has been circling for the last half hour.

There's a small lake about five feet deep at the intersection, and I'm really not sure how I'm going to get out of here. The one-way road coming in let me get here, but it won't let me get out.

I should be in bed.

5. When we flood, we flood in a big way.
To much cement.

Here is a Houston tv station.

6. They're in my parking lot ...

There's been a KHOU and a few other station vans with their antennae extended all day.

I work near the corner of Sam Houston and I-10. There's a whole lake where the road used to be.

Someone went off in a ditch early this morning. I have no idea if they made it out or not, but I suspect not. I haven't actually been able to watch news or get enough info out of people to figure out precisely what they're reporting.

7. That place always floods.
I would not have driven in that mess this morning.

I knew it was going to be bad watching the sky this morning, lighting across the whole northwest sky.

We had rain but we have good ditches, and we keep them cut and clean.

8. Well, I'm an idiot ...
I just moved here a year and a half ago and I've still not gotten used to flooding like this.

We'd get storms in Oklahoma every other afternoon that dumped at least that much rain, and it was no big deal. As long as no swirling wind was coming, it was good.

Here ... I woke up this morning and just saw rain, so I left a few minutes earlier to account for crazier than normal traffic ... and I almost drove into a lake.

Why I'm even here still, I have no idea. We're so dead I've done my paperwork for the week.

Couple pics from my cell from just now:

9. Good pics there.
I am glad you are safe.

Houston is hell when it floods.

I knew it was going to flood big time with all the new highway construction.

Where is all that water going to go.

It is best to stay off the streets when we have rain like this, if you can.

My neighborhood has places that flood now because of the townhouses.

We have more runoff because of them.

That is why I am so careful with the ditches, we had no street flooding on our block.
