Not sure where I stayed. Some all-inclusive place loaded with Germans in speedos (prety typical for tourist areas of the DR, though).

I was in Punta Cana 'cos I got stranded there TWICE on the same trip to and from the Turks and Caicos Islands (to add to the fun, the day before my flight a plane on the same route with the same itinerary and flight number crashed in New York and one minor result of that tragedy was that some thought I was on it and had died). Terrible drivers, terrible poverty, and the most blatantly corrupt Customs pigs I've yet encountered (SOB stole some of my precious batteries and, without even trying to hide it, took a payoff from the dude in front of me before waving his bag through without inspection). Punta Cana is an interesting place, a microcosm of several things wrong with the world, though there're also a few positives.
