Dog owners: Is this common, or unusual?
Now that my dog and I are walking earlier in the morning, because the sun is rising earlier, I've noticed that if I feed him, and we walk within three hours of that time, and it's a vigorous walk, we come back, he drinks a lot of water, and then within three minutes he vomits all over the place.

I'm guessing this is because he gets exerted on our walks/jogs?

We don't walk immediately after he eats, because I know that will be uncomfortable for him, but I'm leaving longer and longer spaces between when he eats and when we walk.

I'm trying to find a solution, and I've come to two possibilities, neither of which I'm too fond of, but maybe they are good ideas:

1. Not feed him before we walk.
2. Deprive him of water for a short while after we walk.

Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you solve it?

I hate to see my dog suffer, and my carpets and towels are beginning to suffer too.

1. What breed of dog and about how old?
It could be the massive intake of water. You can make yourself throw up if you drink too much too fast.

3. Black labrador retriever, approx 3-4 years old. It's not certain how old he is because he's
from a shelter, and they didn't know.

6. Probaly too much water. I know it can have the same effect on humans
I wouldn't advise no water for awhile because I don't know how that would affect a dog. I know humans are advised to take sips of water to avoid cramping. Maybe do something like that, just a little water for awhile then let him or her continue drinking.

Note: My advice isn't scientific.

10. Thank you, I will try this. And I'll report back how this works. To be honest,
this is the solution I was thinking about trying. I was hoping someone would recommend it.

8. He's drinking the water too fast.
Give him some water (3 swallows or so) when you get back from your walk. Just don't let him gorge himself on it.

Wait to put his water dish back down in about an hour or when he calms down and cools off some.
