I'm finished with organic chemistry lab.
Took the final today.

Two semesters of the most torturous class I've ever taken and it's finally over!

I still have two exams to take in the lecture part of the course, but that evil lab is done.

:bounce: :headbang: :woohoo:

1. Congrats for making it through organic chemistry
Aside from a few lab techniques, I found that class useless. Maybe it was how it was taught, but the information was presented in a way that it did not seem to relate to anything else. I was a biology major. Maybe chemists see it differently.

3. Totally agree, I work in a medical lab and with automation

O-chem lab techniques seem antiquated, at least the way I was taught.

Maybe pharmacy students get more out of it.

5. I hated organic chemistry.
Of course, whatever is left is so insignificant that they just call it not-organic chemistry. Oh wait, it's inorganic, right? Whatever. Anyway, congrats. Now you can make LSD.

I had two semesters of geology (101 and 103) labs. They were pretty fun. Chemistry's never appealed to me.

You feel good about your grade? Is it a particular percentage of the overall grade in the course?

8. They give a B+ at my school, that's what I got

I'm real happy with it, considering chemistry isn't my thing either. This is required for a Bio major.

Thanks for asking.

11. as a biology prof I think O-chem is just about useless....
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 09:36 PM by mike_c
It's a great course for future chemical engineers. Not so much for biologists. I wish we could require biochem instead, but O-chem is one of those legacy courses we just can't seem to get rid of. Industrial synthesis of plastics and such. yuck.

Congrats for finishing, though. It's a pain in the butt. Now you're done with it.

12. I thought lecture was kind of fun for the challenge of it

it's those useless hours sweating in the lab, and I'll never use anything I learned there.

Of course, there's plenty of breaking glass and always the chance something will blow up, if you're into that kind of stuff.
