UK Minister: 'I'm not saying Susan Boyle caused swine flu. I'm just saying that nobody had ...
Thank goodness ministers are taking the swine flu outbreak so seriously. Or at least some of them are.

Just as Gordon Brown was gravely announcing that two more Britons had been diagnosed with the virus, one government figure, I can disclose, decided that the potential pandemic was a great opportunity for a joke.

In a bizarre attempt at humour, junior minister Sion Simon suggested that unlikely Britain's Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle is to blame.

'I'm not saying Susan Boyle caused swine flu. I'm just saying that nobody had swine flu, she sang on TV, people got swine flu.'

1. Okay, that's funny. Here's another funny.
My friend who is my computer guy when you're not available, ( he makes house calls) told me today that his 6th grader got in trouble at school because when he was out on Tuesday with an allergy issue, the kids all questioned him on his return saying "Did you have Swine Flu?"

Being a major league smartass, he said yes. One of the kids went home and told his mom (allegedly a physician) and she freaked out about how serious this was.

People are fucked.

3. Michelle Bachmann, is that you?
Sounds like the stupid shit Bachmann said the other day. Except she said Carter caused the last outbreak in 1976, which is funny because Carter wasn't inaugurated until 1977.

6. See, if he were smart he'd blame Midlo.
Most things are her fault somehow.

8. See, I think that's funny.
Maybe not a joke that is safe for a politician to tell, but funny all the same.

10. Heh, we got "Swine Flu Survival Kits" at school today.
The box included Kleenex, Hand Sanitizers, and a Swine Flue Avoidance instruction sheet that included gems like, "Quit watching CNN, 90% of the suspected Swine Flu cases in the U.S. have been traced to CNN viewers with runny noses," and "According to the CDC, hospital waiting rooms are the best place in the country to catch communicable diseases...think about that when you get the urge to have an ER doctor check out your sniffle."

It was my dean's idea :)
