Once again, I heard gunfire in my neighborhood...
Late last night, two shots.

I see nothing about it in the paper yet.

1. Otherwise known as "Saturday Night in Uptown"
When I lived in south Minneapolis, I used to hear gunshots every night-- even when I lived in a "nice" neighborhood like Bryn Mawr. I doubt it even got reported to the cops.

Get yourself a bazooka. And learn how to use it. And stay alert. :)

2. haha
no bazooka, but a few other things that I can use... ;)

I live on the edge of the stephens/whittier neighborhood, and Uptown and yes I know a few blocks away can be sort of rough, but still I do not think it is that rough.

I reported it to the cops, but I doubt they found anything.

5. I used to live right around there, too!
I lived around Stephens Square for more years than I care to remember, back in the 1990s, when it was the farm league for the dealers on Franklin & Chicago. I also used to live at the big monstrosity of a building at the corner of Franklin & 3rd, across from the BP. One night, somebody tried to shoot the clerk there, and left a nice hole in the bulletproof glass. It's a lot better now, thankfully, and is a nice place to live.

Just remember to duck if it sounds like the shots are getting closer. And if somebody asks you if you're "straight", it's not about your sexual preference. :P Stay safe!

6. I know that corner well
Edited on Sun May-03-09 11:22 AM by Pierre.Suave
and that is a rough area still.

FYI, I call the corner of Franklin and Chicago, Crack Corner. I do not need to wonder where I need to go to get pot/crack/or anything else I might desire...

I have had someone ask me if I am "straight" one morning on my walk to St Stephens to volunteer...

3. I used to hear gunfire all the time in Athens GA - it was neighborhood kids
One of them had access to a pistol. They would all gather at the wee hours, pop off a couple of shots and scatter like crazy.

One day I was BBQing the backyard and heard shotgun blasts across the street. A drunk was busy shooting out the windows of his neighbor's house. When the SWAT team finally extracted him, he kept yelling "Ah dinnn do nuthin' !!!!11"

Good Times!

7. The stress of living in a bad neighbourhood is just not worth the price
of a cheap apartment. I'd move if that is what you are hearing outside.

8. It is not really a bad neighborhood
but it is close to one, apparently.

9. that's my situation
we're on the edge. No problems right around here (yet) but we hear a LOT of sirens, the occasional gunshot, and the police chopper ("The Ghetto Bird") basically lives over the next neighborhood over
