Online yellow pages - Damn those Fuckers
They list my residential home phone number for a business that I believe has been defunct for at least 7 years. A business I have never been associated with in any way. I have had my phone number since 2001. It is a listed number and it is registered on the do not call list.

I tried to email these idiots using the contact info posted on their website and the emails have all been undeliverable. And I've phoned the number listed but received no assistance.

What should I do to these miserable fuckers? A formal complaint with my state attorney general comes to mind.....

Word of advice - always ask wrong number callers where they got your number.....

1. First, get another phone number.
What you are describing sort of happened to me once. Got transferred for work. Had phone hooked up on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. While doing move-in stuff over the weekend, I start getting phone calls, which was strange because I hadn't given the phone number to anyone, and people kept hanging up on me. Finally some lady asked if I had any fish. Turns out I was given the phone number that a chain grocery store which had just relocated had used previously. OK, I think, I'll get the phone co to change my number. Except they were closed for Memorial Day weekend. So I ended up taking the phone off the hook for three days, until I could get it changed.

What can you do to the MoFos? Zip, probably. Back when these bastards were regulated you could get their attention. Now they don't answer to anybody. File with your state AG if it will make you feel better. But in the meantime, get your number changed.

2. Ummmm......
No. First, I can't really afford the additional expense at the moment - being unemployed and all. Second, I have had the number since 2001. Never had this problem with Online Yelow Pages until recently. It has actually been about six years since I've received any of these calls. Third, I have a number of family members and acquaintances who live outside the country whom I cannot easily or readily contact regarding such a change.

3. Weird!
Wonder why a business that's been gone so long would still be paying for a Yellow Pages listing.

4. They are not listed in the local yelow pages
I've put forth considerable effort to try to find them. Best I can tell they are defunct. Have been for a number of years.

Online Yellow Pages must be using information that is at least 8 years old.
