The beagle's in the hospital with hemorragic gastroenteritis again.
Now, I'm starting to worry. The vet said they'd be more thorough this time, not just letting it go as "idiopathic". They'll do more than just the observation they did last time. Said it could be anything from an imbalance in colon flora/bacteria, to an infection, to colon cancer. He also said that everything else--her energy (even while he was examining her), her color, etc, made him think it was less serious than cancer. Just wanted me to be aware of the possibility.

The main symptom was quite, umm, obvious this morning. It's clear something's wrong.

So, I guess some vibes wouldn't hurt. Thanks!

5. poor baby has his Scooby blanket, of course?
Here's hoping for a swift and decisive recovery. I thought it sounded like the beagle got very good and conscientious care the last time around. Your vet sounds like a thorough and trustworthy guy. I'll pray for the best.

6. She doesn't now, but I'm taking it in the morning.

I dashed to the vet's office as soon as I could get away from church. He met me there after a farm emergency, and I didn't want to keep him waiting on a holiday weekend. So, I didn't think to take the Scooby blanket. He called late this afternoon to say she was resting well, and I asked if there was any way I could get her blanket to her. He laughed, but said someone would be feeding and giving meds between 7 and 8, maybe as late as 9. He said he'd give 'em a heads up that I'm coming.

I know it sounds silly, but she LOVES the Scooby blanket. When I wash it, she sits in front of the washer and dryer and waits for it to come out. I try to wash it when she's sleeping or otherwise occupied, to prevent the "OMG! The Scooby blanket is in the washer!" trauma.

Thanks for remembering and caring! Very kind of you!

You take the beagle's needs seriously, as she expresses them. What is silly about that? I love that you take care when washing it not to trigger deprivation anxiety. I know someone who would find it just an amusing eccentricity and and who would toss the blanket in the washer (or the microwave or any handy receptacle) when people came over just to share the hilarity of their pet's anxiety. It physically hurts me to have to watch something of that sort. This guy loves his pet, I believe that, but he is short on the empathy thing and I just can't teach that it seems.

I hope she gets better very soon. It is so hard to have to worry about the furbabies.

I am glad she is getting her blanket, too.

15. Beagles have a reputation for eating everything on earth.
Maybe she ate something even her mighty systey couldn't handle. Hope she makes a complete recovery.

I always wanted a Beagle, ended up with a Great Dane/Doberman...
Maybe some day...

20. She's eight. A spry eight. Still does rally obedience work
with the best of 'em. We tried agility, but she just wanted to go back and forth over the hurdles. Apparently, turning around and going back over a hurdle, for the fun of it, is a fault. Who knew?

23. Oh, eight is not old for a beagle, is it?
I like that, the turning around and going back over the hurdle. My Jordan would do that.

22. She has the Scooby blanket, and had a "good stool" this morning.
But she's staying until they can do more diagnostic work, and while I'm away at a Girardian conference. Gotta go soon. Have a good holiday, all! And thanks for the vibes!
