Another 'Passion' thread, but Hollywood-oriented (interesting question)
'K. Mel does this Jesus movie. Suddenly he's the most pious putz in the world. How is he ever again going to be able to make or star in the kind of film that used to be his bread and butter? No more shoot-em-up kill-everything movies...because if he does, he will just look dumb and hypocritical.

"Hey, didja see my Jesus movie?" *BLAM BLAM SNAP NECK STOMP GROIN THROW MAN OFF BUILDING CLEVE SKULL WITH SWORD*

Seems a bridge too far to me.

4. What little of the Diane Sawyer interview
I saw...

He said he might be finished in Hollywood after this film. I thought he meant at the time that he might be finished because of the rough subject matter. No one would want to work with him again. But it could also mean that he is just finished, no more to say.

Either way, I got the strong impression he was prepared to hang it up if need be.

6. It depends
Did he make the movie just to express his point of view and/or try to sway others to join his beliefs.

Did he make the movie because he believes in the art of making "great" films.

Did he make the movie just to makes lots and lots of money and get tons of media attention.

I haven't seen the movie, and I haven't paid too much attention to his interviews and such, but I kind of have the feeling he is in the business to make money. I guess his next move will show where he is really coming from. And if the next movie is a shoot em up movie, and the media gives it great reviews, then I am sure he will have no problem selling tickets.

11. GOD I hated that movie!
I have never heard a more pathetic line uttered than Helen Hunt's whine, "I'm sooo lonely!".

Ah, Mel as the Saviour of unhappy, neurotic, and overworked women everywhere. :puke:

8. I dunno...
I doubt momst people have a strong enough sense of irony to see the hypocracy. I mean really, what's the difference between the violence in "The Passion" and the violence of most of his other movies. :eyes: ;-)
