I just went to the Apple to download the latest version of Safari.
Before downloading it I got the message about how it contains an application and how the safety of it cannot be verified so I cancelled it. Is that normal? I would think I would not get that message about their own stuff.

1. If you download it from Apple's website it is fine...
they probably did that because the Safari you are downloading is more than likely a beta.

BTW, I'm running Version 4 Public Beta (5528.17) with no problems at all.

2. I think that's a standard warning that comes up...
...before you download any executable file in Safari.

It helps stop scumbags from infecting you with malware disguised as a .jpg or music file.

You could probably download it using "Software Update" under the Apple menu if you're afraid that you're not really linking to the real Apple web site.
