I'm looking for a cheap place to stay and unusual, cultural things to do at night. This is pure tourism (with a little bit of research thrown in for fun). Is it true that there's a DU Lounge Museum?

4. This is the Pee Wee Herman answer for people who know the Alamo doesn't have a basement?
George Washington's Ferry Farm years (near Fredericksburg) and his relationship with his loser step son, Jack

7. Is this for a book?
Was it Jack who owned Woodlawn?

9. Maybe.
I get them confused, so I could be wrong (don't have my notes with me right now). But I believe Jack owned a place called Abington and it was his son, Wash Custis, who owned Woodlawn. The Lee-Custis family were such a convoluted bunch. Worse than the Adams family who kept on drinking themselves to death.

I don't know about the Lounge Museum. And as for unusual cultural things to do..I suggest you hit either Adams Morgan or the Dupont Circle area...:)
As for cheap places to stay..Not sure you are gonna find anything particuarly cheap in the DC/Northern Va area....

5. I should say "relatively cheap"
I know I'm dropping a bundle. But there's things you just can't get from a book.

6. Make sure you see the monuments at night and go up the GWMonument after dark.
Kramer's Books. One of THE first 24/7 bookstores, with a restaurant.

Also at Dupont Circle, Second Story Books.

8. Now that's one I hadn't thought of, thanks.
Of course seeing all the marble at night makes more sense.

19. My favorite tourist spot at night
is the Vietnam Wall. It's adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial, which is also much more impressive at night. As is the Jefferson Memorial.

Captain Hilts was right.

Also, if you can get to Arlington Cemetery, go to JFK's grave. The view of Washington from there is really something.

And eat at the American Indian Museum's cafeteria, if you can. The food's remarkable.

The Library of Congress is a great place, so try to get there. Just beautiful.

Our city/area is a wonderful tourist site, and I know you'll have a great time ..........................

11. You're gonna have to help me here. What is the "DC 9"?
It sounds like a group of radical defendants in a "public menace" political trial.

12. Don't forget to try to take in a Natinals game!
I also suggest taking in a show at Wolf Trap in Vienna if you see anybody you like. You can apparently get there via Metro now which makes everything much easier. Here's a link: http://www.wolftrap.org/

13. Well you were a dick to me..otherwise
I'd offer a couch and a free tour of the monuments (have friends at NPS) and after going to the Spy museum...which is fun...and it has a brewery next door....but I hope you choke on your ego.

15. Oh, I'm a dick to everyone.
Anyway, trust me, you're better off in life with me never sleeping on your couch.

Is "JohnnyBoots" a new user name? I don't remember the incident or the name.
