Did you know...
The Brits call a band-aid a plaster?

No?

Well, neither did I.

1. Why yes, my dear Peggy, I did!
But I am an unrepentant anglophile. So there's that.

I hope you didn't NEED a plaster while in one of my favorite cities, did you?

4. My dear MorningGlow!
Alas, I did, and do, need a plaster...

I've done a LOT of walking, and a blister developed on my left heel...

And then I neglected it, and another blister came on top of the original one...

So, I'm now using plasters, and I needed a new one tonight...

So I bought some.

My education continues, unabated.

"In the United States and Canada, an adhesive bandage is better known as a Band-Aid,"

Over here in Quebec(French Canadian Province) we call it a plaster like CaliforniaPeggy said.

I have no idea why we still use that term. :)

55. Hope you have a safe trip home! (or arrived safely when you read this).
as far as I'm concerned Band Aid is all Bob Geldolf. Besides we can't use the branded Band-Aid plasters because of the latex in them, and we have latex allergies in the family. Believe it or not it's the cheap store-brand "band aids" that are the latex free ones (generally) and we buy those. Wish there were more of the cartoon ones with no latex but we can't have everything.

Mark.

58. Yes
I grew up using that term

By contrast, I had terrible difficulty adjusting to the fact that Americans used the term "soda" to describe soft drinks in general. In Australia and the UK, as a general rule, soda means this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cream_soda

This caused me terrible confusion during my first few days in the US when I was asked in a restaurant or at a home whether I wanted a soda and, following my agreement, I was presented with a coke or Sprite

But anyway, welcome back! Hope you and your husband had a wonderful, safe and enjoyable trip with many beautiful and cherished memories
