I am now a Pennsylvanian
I can't get into details due to pending legal issues, but
I look forward to help making Butler County a bit more blue.

Rest assured, all's well. I'll give details when my attorney
gives the OK. For now I CAN say that I love it here.

It's in West Mifflin, PA, southeast of Pittsburgh, and well worth making the trek.

4. The problem with PA isn't the highways
It's the PA drivers.

Seriously, most of the time when I see somebody doing something absolutely fucking ridiculous or holding up traffic, they have PA plates.

14. Man, they must suck

Most insane thing I've ever seen on the road was during a snowstorm. I'm on Rt. 80 and a PA driver comes up next to me in the left lane, going much faster than anyone else, CLEARING HIS WINDSHIELD HALF HANGING OUT THE WINDOW USING A SNOW SCRAPER!

I was just like WTF????

I mean, it was bad out. My commute that day took me 2 hours as opposed to the usual 20 minutes or so.

I lived there for 9 years and now live in PA. In MA, driving is a competitive sport.

beat me to it. I've been driving defensively here all my life and have seen some pretty stupid and rude stuff. Yes, I'm sure we beat every other state.

39. As soon as I enter MA when going back to visit, my pulse rises and
I have a death grip on my steering wheel. Driving 80-90 mph and refusing to allow people to merge is SOP on 95. And I hate the rotaries! I've been stuck on them on several occasions. :scared:

42. Funny you should mention coming here for a visit. My daughter
and family lived for quite a few years in Altoona (yea, I know) and every time we drove to visit, we had the most pleasant journey. Once leaving MA and Conn, life on the road was easy. It was an easy 12 hour drive. Once we got through Scranton, the rest was a cake walk. Love PA. Have been through the state several times since she moved just to have a quiet drive to her new home, Indiana.

As to Route 95, it is the most horrible road in the US. My husband and I had occasion many times to travel long distances on 95 for business and pleasure, twice all the way to Florida. It is worth it in peace of mind to drive inland and avoid it.

28. Born in the Keystone state,
grew up there, and I loved it. NE PA, though, far from you.

Just keep this in mind: there is only one difference between the PA State Police and the Gestapo, and that is that one is out of business.

Series.

I got busted in PA so many times, even after I moved away and was just visiting. Last time, I was flagged for speeding outside Pittsburgh, and the name on the trooper's badge looked familiar. Turned out his father had been a trooper in the Wilkes-Barre barracks, and, sure enough, he was the first one ever to pick me up for speeding.

Got a warning and a big smile. Clearly, the young trooper recognized a pro.

Enjoy your time in Pennsylvania. It's one of the most beautiful states in the Union, I think, and it has just about everything. Have a great time, be safe, and turn that red into blue .......................

32. LT: Welcome to PA! It is a very large state, still has a lot of
sparsely populated counties and mountain areas.
The white stuff you will see on the ground late this year is called "snow". The other stuff you won't see is ice - that's the stuff to be careful of.

Hope you enjoy it here - Left once, and came back in a year or so.
