Is Goof Off a deadly nerve poison?
When I was a kid I clipped the tip of my index finger off. It healed, and normally it doesn't bother me (other than not being able to feel anything with it.)

This morning I was painting and spilled a couple drops of paint on the floor. I used the aforementioned Goof Off to clean it up, and now the tip of my finger - which I haven't been able to feel for years - hurts & itches. It's really annoying.

1. Probably
I had to use that once, and I got high as hell for a couple hours. Normally, I wouldn't mind that, but it wasn't a nice high.

2. Solvents

Many cleaning products contain powerful chemical solvents to loosen the gunk.

Toluene, ethanol, naphtha, acetone. These solvents can be absorbed through the skin. Our bodies' filtering systems are hard-pressed to deal with such harsh chemicals.

Wear gloves, seriously. Use in a ventilated area.

4. That's nasty stuff. You should really use rubber gloves since it can be absorbed through the skin.
I remember using it once and had to have a fan to exhaust the fumes and it still made me loopy.

I did a quick google and came up with this article about it being used on playgrounds.

snip: "Vapor harmful," the label reads. "May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea.... May be harmful if absorbed through skin.... Do not breathe vapors.... Do not get on eyes or skin or clothing."

5. A god idea when using anything like this is to read the entire label -
I just bought some spray on paint stripper, read the label when I got it home, and I'm not sure I want to use it at all....

My finger is still tingling, but at least the paint isn't on the tile anymore.
