Best way to find a good and trustworthy person to fix my washing machine?
Y'know the thing that sticks up in the middle and turns? Well, the bottom part turns but the top part is broken. It just sits there. So the clothes aren't getting agitated and so they're not getting clean. I got a helluva workout at the laundromat yesterday.

Any ideas how to find someone good to fix it, who won't rip me off? Craigslist for this purpose scares me.

1. You gots worn-out dogs!!!!
Seriously- 99% of the time, that is caused by worn-out dog cams in the agitator column. They're pretty easy to replace yourself and cost under 10 bucks.

Usually, if you pop off the top of the agitator, there will be a nut that holds the whole shebang together. Remove that nut, and the whole thing comes out and apart. From there, it's pretty easy to put back together.

I know that isn't what you asked, but I just replaced some for a friend. Hope you get it resolved! :hi:

3. Appliance parts store....

or, if you're not in a big hurry- you could surely find them online. Example:

Of course, you'll need to find the ones that fit your specific washer.

On Edit- If you center agitator spins freely (more or less) in both directions, then the cams are probably the culprit. But.... it's always possible that there's another problem. These cams, though, eventually wear out- it's what they're designed to do.

5. AngiesList.com is worth the subscription price.
They will probably have lots of customer reviews for contractors in your area.

7. I would look to an authorized dealer/service center
the plus is you can complain to the manufactorer if you have a problem with the service person.
