I'm curious - do you make your bed everyday
I have to admit I'm one of those lazy people that can't be bothered to make the bed unless I happen to be staying at my mother's house (who will annoy the bejesus out of me until it was made - probably the reason why I don't make it everyday) or visiting a friend's house overnight.

But I just got some really great new sheets and trying to make the bed everyday.

BTW, my bed would always get made once a week since I wash my sheets every week - I may be messy but I'm not that much of a slob!

1. Sorta.
The bedsheets are straightened out and the spread covers the pillows -- the latter is mostly so that His Highness The Cat doesn't nap directly on the pillows.

Like you I always make the bed when I'm a guest in someone else's house but we've had more than a few guests over the years who haven't even straightened out the blankets in the morning. I find that weird.

7. This sounds weird but after the guest leaves I always wash the sheets
So as much as I appreciate the thought of the bed being made, as soon as the guest leaves the sheets are ripped off and tossed into the Washing Machine.

15. Depending on where I stay as a guest
I will strip the bed and wash the sheets myself. (staying @ Mom and Dad's or at Grandma & Grandpa's)

I even straighten the sheets @ hotels - can't stand a messy room.

23. Are you related to my mother
:scared:

When I visit, she'll hound me every 15 minutes until I make the damn bed. And she has one of those daybeds that's such a bitch to make each day that I just put a blanket on top of the daybed and find a quilt to put over top. Then all I have to do is fold the blanks and smoothover the wrinkles on the daybed futon

I swear it's like I get into the 'wayback' machine when I stay at my folks house. Too long and I'll be sneaking out the downstairs window and breaking curfew!! :wow:

since I didn't want her putting dirty dishes in with the clean. However the roommate had to move out (I knew it was only for a few months) and I'm trying not to get back into old habits.

36. I do too, but I'm talking about the multi-day visitors who leave the bed disheveled each morning.
It just strikes me as odd to leave it looking like a teen's bedroom. Pull up the damn blankets at least, ya know?

Some of my favorite guests are the ones who offer to strip the bed when they leave. I decline the offer but I do appreciate it.

2. Yes
Mostly because the cats sleep on it during the day, so I have to make sure "their" blankets are in place so they don't get hair all over the comforter.

22. I don't care what Debi Jr. does w/his bed
as long as pillows and blankets aren't on the floor I'm happy.

It's his business whether or not he wants to have a tidy bed.

He doesn't have the same problem w/the dog as I do. He has a captain's bed w/one of those new fancy memory foam mattresses. The thing sits around 3 1/2 feet off the ground - the dog can't jump that high!

12. My dogs would burrow anyway.
Dachshunds are burrowers -- I thought they were strange at first but, no, it's their nature. They are the only breed recognized as hunters both above and below ground. You'd never know they were hunters watching them sleep right now. But Louie has caught two birds so he thinks he's quite the hunter.

13. Even when I don't make the beds, Abbott would only sleep at the end of the bed
on top of the comforter. Evita won't sleep on the bed because there are 2 catbeds in the room and her bed is the one by the window.

Ironcially now that my roommate has moved out, I've seen my cats sleeping on the guestroom bed - both of them together, which is pretty rare in my house. My cats are not snugglers and rarely share the same bed. If Abbott is on the bed and Evita decides she's ready to be petted, Abbott will leave the bed and go sleep elsewhere.

6. Nope.
for two reasons:

1) I'm lazy.

2) I read somewhere that you should air out your bed because of all the mites, etc. that live in the sheets. Since my doxies like to burrow under the covers no matter how bloody hot it is outside, I have double reason for wanting to air out the bed.

3) Did I mention tha I'm lazy?

This is my latest Duvet:

It doesn't have matching sheets with it but I got these really soft ones made of the fibers of Eucalyptus trees. They're suppose to be eco-friendly but it dawned on me that trees were downed to make these sheets AND those trees are found halfway around the world.

If one can’t sleep that person will go into another room to make sure the tossing and turning doesn’t wake the other one. I make both beds when that happens. I also, like you, change sheets every week.

25. I used to obsese about it, keeping my bed made.
That was before I read about medical studies that concluded well made beds can present health hazards.

http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/reprint/165/12/1591.pdf

"Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4181629.stm

I still make my bed often, I just don't get crazy about it.

29. For the most part, yes....
Sometimes the multiple decoratove pillows don't make it back to their proper place, but otherwise the bed is made. In the mornings, I use my bed as a staging area- my clothes, gym bag, laptop and bag, and anything that I need to attend to that day is put on the bed as I pack up my things. This is a LOT easier on a made bed!

40. I remake it before we go to bed. I usually just toss up the blankets and
spread in the morning but not always.

Funny thing is, those few years we lived in Michigan and everything was on one floor, I always made the bed first thing in the morning. Moving back to our 2 story, I guess because I'm usually not upstairs except waking up in the morning and going to bed at night that I just don't think about it. If I have a reason to be upstairs, like cleaning, I'll make it. Otherwise it never crosses my mind until I go upstairs to get into it and realize it's not comfy until I remake it.

I prefer to purchase a ready made bed once and use it over and over again. I don't want to make beds daily. My wifes' aunt however, is into this strange thing of making beds daily, but the kind folks at Spring Air Mattress seem to recompense her for doing so.

Seriously, nope. We don't bother unless we're having special guests over.

Mr. Froggy got called to work at all hours and he often slept in the daytime. Actually, that's just an excuse. I've always been anti-bedmaking. It's pointless. The only time I make the bed is when I'm expecting company who's a known bedmaker, and sometimes not even then, depending on who it is.

57. No
unless i'm selling my house, in which case i do it faithfully everyday and that's torture.

that said, the way my mom taught me to make a bed is fairly time consuming and a PITA overall.

when i went college, my roommates showed me how to simplify things to make it easy to make the bed (hey, I went to Brigham Young, people actually cared about this stuff! :wtf: ). They told me to get a comforter appropriate to the weather and not to use blankets and then making the bed is a snap, you just pull it up to the top and you're done.

so when i have to make the bed everyday, at least i've got an easy way to do it.

Top sheets aren't sold over here generally so we only use a comforter/duvet. Takes all of 5 seconds to shake that thing out on top of the bed. Now if I had to deal with tucking in sheets, no way.

63. Depends on what you call "making the bed"
If you consider it to be straightening out the top sheet and comforter, then yes.

Gotta do that sometime before bedtime or it won't be comfy to sleep in.

Besides, an unmade bed looks depressing, and a made one makes even a messy room look better.

67. No cats and the Corgi's can't jump up on the bed....
I only make my bed when we change the sheets.

80. One's a 7-year old red and white Pembroke and one's a...
4-1/2 month old tri-color Pembroke....

The little one (Santi) has changed a LOT since this
picture...the big grumpy one (Sprocket) looks about
the same.

He's really fluffy today, because they had baths
on Sunday, and it's humid today.

:hi:

69. Oh hell no
Beds are much more comfortable when they're a pile of blankets and pillows

70. We have a nylon-covered opened-up sleeping bag on our bed in the winter
When the temperature dips the dog rises, up onto our bed! Nylon is good because it's slick and dog/cat hair doesn't cling to it. I tend to use it all the time instead of a bedspread, and remove it at night when the weather is mild.
I usually fold the covers down halfway, smooth out the fitted sheet, plump the pillows, and leave the bed to air out for a while. If I do leave the sleeping bag spread out, the dog likes to spread out on top of it- it's her little indulgence.

71. No. I never have done this.
Nor will I ever. It seems pointless.

72. Not exactly, but I try to cover it
because I have a waterbed, and the blankets on it hold in the heat and conserve energy. Being a waterbed, the dustmites aren't an issue (way better for allergies).

If it weren't for that, I'd never bother. I'm quite happy just sleeping in a wadded up nest of blankets.

76. I HAVE to. It is my one (or 2 or 3) OCD things that I do.
I actually make it twice. Once in the morning just for looks and then before bed to get the sheets nice and tight.

78. Only if.........
I'm putting on a clean set of sheets or going out of town for a few days. Nothing's greater than coming home to a made up bed.

79. No. My girlfriend does.
This is one of the few arguments I won. We don't let guests into our bedroom, so there's no point at all in making the bed. This is the one household chore I put my foot down regarding. If she wants the bed made, she can either make it herself or relieve me of the responsibility of the chore I hate most, cutting the lawn.

83. Yes I do,
ever since I got sober. And no, it's not an AA requirement :)
All of a sudden I realized how much more orderly my room looked if I made the bed.....

84. Yes!!!
I always have, even as a child. I even start making it up before I get out of bed- I pull the sheets up to wards the head of the bed pulling them taut, then carefully slip out the side. Much less work when you do this. I love getting into a bed that is made up-a very affordable luxury.

85. No.
I pull the covers down and over the posts of the foot-board and then separate them so air can freely circulate around and between them so I'm sure that any residual moisture is completely dried. Low humidity and light deprives any unwanted visitors (bacteria, fungus, etc.) of the needed moisture required to survive.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

87. Yup. Right before I go to bed...
when I get outta bed, I couldn't care less if the sheets are pulled out from the bed and the comforter is on the floor, but when I go to bed everything's gotta be perfect.
