Cute overload -- a cat "nursing" off a Border Collie
These are my cousin's pets. Kimmy is her Border Collie and Gummyworm, the cat, inexplicably nurses off of her. She doesn't produce milk, but that doesn't stop this cat.

5. Cat nursing
or "kneading" is a behavior denoting contentment and friendship. It does, indeed, mimic the nursing action of a kitten "kneading" the mammary to stimulate milk-flow.

If a cat performs this ritual to excess, it can indicate insecurity, although sometimes it just means the cat was weaned & separated from the dam too early. This is especially so if the claws extrude fully and it 'plucks' at an object/person/doggie.

Unfortunately, such attention can become very unpleasant and painful, but rejection can compound the problem.

I had one little guy w/ the symptom. I folded several layers of towel on my lap, kept it next to my chair for several weeks ready for his visits. He eventually settled in and became more confident.

7. some kinda inter-species freakiness going on here?
WTF? Do you feed them Olive Garden or something?

I'm just sayin that maybe we shouldn't let these photos out, as they may be used by our opponents as evidence of the Slippery Slope.

(actually, those are really cute! I used to have a male German Shepherd that adopted a litter of orphaned kittens. It was really adorable how he'd carry them around by their scruff and whatnot, although nursing was out of the question...)
