Los Angeles - Singer Robert Plant confirmed today that while the rumored Led Zeppelin reunion tour won't be happening, he does have other plans once his current collaboration with Alison Krauss: Coverdale-Plant, an inconceivable union between a rock legend and a man he once considered a bottom feeder.
"We have a special duet of "Whole Lotta Love" planned. I sing "Way down in siiiiiiiiiiiiiiide," then David sings "WOMAN...you NEED it...." and we both sing "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE" together. The first time I heard the playback of our rehearsal tapes, I peed myself a little. OK, I peed myself a lot."
Coverdale and Plant plan to go into the studio in late November with bassist Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers and drummer Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick. Guitarist Steve Vai has also signed up for the project, himself a former bandmate of Coverdale's in Whitesnake. A U.S. tour will follow with selected European dates.
When asked for his comments, David Coverdale laughed and said "Robert's only request was that we not perform "Still Of The Night," which still pisses him off. I reminded him of how many WHitesnake CDs that one sold and he relented, saying "OK then you tosser."
